Buying a holiday home is a big decision - if you're buying for the first time, this blog will help you know where to get started on your search.
1 – LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!
When buying a holiday home, the most important thing for you is likely to be - as they say - location, location, location. There are thousands of parks across the UK, so whether you’re looking for a seaside park to take the family for plenty of summer fun, a quiet and relaxing country retreat for weekend breaks, or even a retirement home*, there will be a place that’s perfect for you.
You can click here to browse a map of parks that can help you buy a Victory Leisure Home.
2 – WHICH MODEL IS BEST FOR YOU?
A man’s holiday home is his castle! Choosing the right model for you will be the next decision of vital importance. Do you want a leisure home – which is ideal for summer holidays and weekend breaks - or a lodge for extended holidays or even full-time residence*? What are the features that you really want to have in your home?
At Victory, we have a model suitable for every requirement, from low-budget and chalet-style models through to fully furnished luxury residential lodges*. Plus, with optional extras to personalise each model, the choices really are endless. You’ll probably want to get to know as much as possible about a leisure home before you buy it, so we have created virtual tours for all our models for you to explore, as well as a recommended retail price list so you can find something to suit your budget.
3 – DO YOUR RESEARCH
Owning a leisure home comes with a lot of options and a lot of responsibilities. You’ll need to know things like what standards your model needs to be built to, what license* your park has for use throughout the year, what the running costs will be and how to arrange insurance. The National Caravan Council (NCC) website offers great advice to consumers looking to buy a holiday home for the first time.
4 – MAKE IT HAPPEN
So you’ve done your research and decided on a location and a model. What is the next step? If you are looking at a park location the best option is usually to contact the park directly, who will likely have a team that can guide you through the costs and process of purchasing and owning a holiday home with them. They might have some new or used models already available on their park, or if you have a new model in mind already they can help you arrange the purchase, either through a distributor or directly from the manufacturer.
Starting out on your journey to finding the perfect holiday home for you is such an exciting time and we wish you the best of luck in your holiday home hunt!
*Not all parks have a license for year-round use of your home, you must check with individual parks if you can live in your home permanently.
